The Blue-winged Kookaburra (Dacelo leachii) is a large species of kingfisher common throughout Australia. It hunts and eats a wide variety of animals, including insects, lizards, snakes and frogs. Kookaburras are cooperative breeders, with a group being made up of a breeding pair and one or more helper birds (from earlier broods) who help raise the young.
